HoCoJAG’s mission is to protect the Jewish community through political action and, advocacy.
This includes, without limitation:
- Directly supporting political candidates
- Building relationships with existing elected and appointed officials
- Taking public positions for or against pending policies and legislation
- Challenging existing policies and legislation that harm the Jewish community
- Building relationships with media outlets to advance understanding of these issues
The goal of HoCoJAG is a Howard County where Jewish residents are safe, included, and integral to the fabric of the community.
Most Jewish organizations are organized as 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organizations which legally prevents them from engaging in many political activities including endorsing and campaigning for specific candidates.
HoCoJag is structured as a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization; this means that donations to HoCoJAGĀ are not tax-deductible, but are allowed to be used for direct political action such as endorsing candidates, campaigning on their behalf, financial support, legal challenges, and more.
