We Need You Now!

HoCoJAG was built for moments like this.

Over the past several months, HoCoJAG has been doing the hard work that most people never see. On the state level, we have met with legislators, submitted testimony, tracked harmful bills, supported legislation that strengthens Holocaust and anti-hate education, and pushed for stronger protections for Jewish students and families. We have also worked to build relationships in Annapolis that will matter not just this session, but in the fights ahead. Read our positions and testimony here.

That work matters. But it is not enough on its own.

At our annual meeting, one thing was clear: HoCoJAG is growing, the stakes are rising, and the next phase of this work will require more from all of us. So we are ramping up now for the upcoming election cycle, and we cannot overstate how important it is for our members to get involved in the primaries.

Why? Because there are people running for office who are not just misguided, but actively fueling Jew hatred. Some package it in language about “empathy.” Some call Israel’s actions “genocide.” Others traffic in rhetoric that legitimizes Hamas or normalizes hostility toward Jews and the Jewish state. However they dress it up, the result is the same: it makes our community less safe.

This is not abstract. Words from candidates and elected officials shape the climate around us. In turn, they influence what becomes acceptable in schools, in public life, and in our local political culture.

That is why HoCoJAG is not waiting.

We are monitoring legislation.
We are engaging lawmakers.
We are educating and evaluating candidates.
We are preparing to support endorsed HoCoJAG candidates in critical races.
And we are making it clear that the Jewish community in Howard County will not be ignored.

But here is the truth: politicians respond to numbers.

They respond to organized people.
They respond to active voters.
And they respond to communities that show up early, not communities that complain after the fact.

So we need you right now.

We need you to:

  • Get your friends and family to join HoCoJAG – every voter counts
  • Help us monitor legislation and address concerns
  • Volunteer to support endorsed candidates during the primary season
  • Show up, speak up, and stay engaged

If you have been waiting for the right time to get involved, this is it.

The Democratic primary is where virtually every race in Howard County will be decided. If you do not register as a Democrat, you will have no voice in Howard County’s next government. Click HERE to update your party registration. If we do not engage now, we give away influence before the real fight even begins.

HoCoJAG has done a great deal with a relatively small group of committed people. Imagine what we can do with more members, more volunteers, and more visible support.

We do not have the luxury of being passive.
We do not have the luxury of assuming someone else will handle it.
We need strength in numbers, and we need it now.

Join us. Bring others with you. Help us do the work that this moment requires.
